The Best Watercolors You’ve Ever Painted

Learn with Richard E Scott from the comfort of your own home, anywhere in the world, with his Online Watercolor Class.

Perfect for anyone wanting to improve their skills in watercolor - artists, hobbyists, architects, designers, urban sketchers and students are welcome. (The current class is not intended for beginners - enrollees should understand the basics of drawing and painting.)

In this online class, Richard guides you through the painting of several fun and challenging watercolors.

This particular class is not a Zoom event. Both sessions (one class session and one Q&A session) are high quality, tightly-edited recordings - the result of many hours of filming, voice-over narration, editing and color correction.

  • You can enjoy the class at your pace - pause, rewind, and paint along with Richard as many times as you like, day or night, for a full month

  • The painting demonstration is not merely a "demo" - it is a start-to-finish documentary of a studio painting, filmed with multiple cameras, with each stroke captured up-close with every decision and technique explained

  • The online class is approx. three hours in length / the Q&A video is almost an hour in length

  • = a total of nearly 4 hours of instruction and content.

All you need is a simple watercolor kit (a materials list will be emailed), a device (desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone), and an internet connection.

Learn Richard’s unique approach to painting, gain confidence as an artist, get inspired and have fun!

Session 1: Painting Architecture

July 30 - August 30, 2022
(A full month to watch the recorded session at your own pace, as many times as you like)

How do you paint a challenging subject like architecture in watercolor? Richard teaches that it’s how one thinks when holding a paintbrush that makes all the difference. He shares three key ideas that you can apply to unlock the magic of watercolor when painting architecture.* Get an up-close look as he demonstrates these ideas to paint two classic buildings, from start to finish.

Included in this lesson is an exploration of one of the most difficult edges to paint in watercolor and how to paint it with skill and confidence.

* In this online class Richard focuses on painting architecture – not drawing architecture (linear perspective will be thoroughly explored in a future online drawing class).

Session 2: Q&A and Painting Analysis

July 30 - August 30, 2022
(A full month to watch the recorded session at your own pace, as many times as you like)

Richard answers Q&A from students and takes a deep dive into the artworks painted in the first session, with an analysis of his own paintings and selected student works. Students also learn tips on practice to continually improve their skills and have more fun.
